The certification

Chakra Alliance Certified.

A community-based standard that checks how a farm protects nature, treats its workers, and grows food. Every certified product can be traced back to a real farm, and to the family who tends it.

What the badge means

Four pillars, one standard.

Every certified farm is assessed against all four. None is optional, and none stands alone.

Conservation

How the farm helps the land around it: protecting water sources, connecting wild areas, and caring for the land for the long term instead of using it up fast.

Biodiversity

How many kinds of plants grow on the farm: native trees left standing, and no clearing land for a single crop.

Fair Work

Who gets paid, and how fairly: clear prices, decisions made by the community, and no middleman taking money the growers earned.

Natural

What goes into the soil: no factory-made chemicals, and farming methods passed down through generations instead of copied from industrial farms.

What we certify

Five crops, one forest.

Certification covers the crops grown on certified Amazon farms. Each one grows alongside many others on the same farm, never alone in a single-crop row.

  • Guayusa
  • Cacao
  • Yuca
  • Ishpingo (Amazonian cinnamon)
  • Banano

The Chakra farming system earned a separate honor before we existed. On February 13, 2023, the FAO named the Amazonian Chakra a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS), noting that about 80% of chakras are run by indigenous women, called Chakramamas. That honor covers the whole farming system. It has nothing to do with our certification. Our certification checks individual family farms, one at a time, against the four pillars above.

Producer Certification

Certified to the family, not the company.

The chakra itself earns the certification. It belongs to the farming family, never to a cooperative, exporter, or brand. This is different from how certifications like organic or Fair Trade usually work. In those systems, the certificate belongs to whoever paid for it. A farmer can keep farming the exact same way and still lose certified status the moment they stop selling to one buyer, even though nothing in the ground changed. It's their harvest, but someone else's seal.

  • A small fee, not a barrier. Producers pay only a small fee to cover paperwork, far less than what certifying a farm actually costs.
  • Donors pay for the rest. The real cost of visiting and checking each farm comes from donations, not from the farmer.
  • Yours, wherever you sell. The certification travels with you. It doesn't expire if you switch buyers.

Trader Certification

Sourcing that protects the forest, and the family in it.

It starts with a simple ask: tell us which product and how much you need. We check how many certified farmers can already supply it. If that's not enough, we find more chakra farms, check them, and bring them into certification to close the gap. Once supply meets your request, we track every step from farm to product, so your supply chain is covered from start to finish.

  • You bring the demand, we bring the supply. Tell us the product and volume. We match you with farmers who can supply it.
  • We close gaps, not just report them. If there isn't enough certified supply, we find and certify new chakra farms until there is.
  • $3,000 per year. That covers Trader Certification in full. Along with donations, this money keeps the program running, so farmers only ever pay their small documentation fee, never the real cost of certification.

Grow certified, or source certified.

Whether you farm in Ecuador's Amazon or you're a brand looking for supply you can trace back to nature, we'd like to hear from you.
